We asked Melanie Pace, celebrity stylist, to tell us what's hot for 2012.

Dare to wear eye-catching prints! 

This season, it's all about the graphics. Think fun cashmere sweaters with pictures of animals, cardigans with polka dots, and even cheetah print knits - and don't be afraid to be loud! Just make sure to balance these bold statement pieces with tailored pants, or jeans.

Fair Isle is fair game! What used to be reserved for the ski lodge is now making it's way onto the runway! Fair Isle sweaters are hot this season - even guys are catching on to the trend! Pacec says to pair this look with a more serious piece to stay age-appropriate. I love wearing mine with leggings and riding boots!

Hand Knit Sweater

Cozy up to chunky knits! Whether you're a fan of oversized cable knits, or structured, thick wool sweaters, these pieces will keep you looking warm AND fashionable! And don't worry, all types of fabrics are in - from cashmere to cotton! You can wear these multi-dimensional sweaters over anything, so don't be afraid to layer!

Pullover Sweater

Add some Southwestern flair to your look! Aztec or southwestern silhouettes are all the rage. Look for horizontal patterns and zig-zags on both long and short sweaters this season. Prefer something simpler? Then look for bold, horizontal stripes. You can layer these pieces over anything - from pants and tights to maxi dresses!

Though maxi dresses are long and flowing, they are made of thin delicate material which will keep a woman nice and cool on those hot summer days. The breeze will flow right through so that you can stay comfortable no matter where you might be; especially for outdoor events.

Length is very important when it comes to wearing the ideal maxi dress. Most women think that a maxi dress should reach the heel of the foot; but really, the ideal maxi dress should petty much reach the floor and cover your feet. Flat sandals are the best to wear for comfort and to compliment the dress that you are wearing. For women that are short and want to appear taller, some nice platform sandals or wedge heels would work out nicely.

Short dresses seemed to be what many women preferred to wear to show off their legs during the summer season, but for the trend of 2011 the fashion is set for the long and beautiful maxi dress that will keep the skin covered while at the same time showing a woman’s true feminine side.
